Spirulina Balls Easy Recipe

Spirulina Balls easy recipe

Spirulina balls are a no-bake vegan snack made by blending toasted coconut, oats, chia and sesame seeds, dates and spirulina powder in a food processor, then rolling the mixture into balls and chilling for 30 minutes. Spirulina itself is an algae powder that’s high in protein and vitamins, and this recipe uses dates as a natural sweetener instead of added sugar.

Spirulina has a strong, faintly oceanic flavour, which is why it is used in small amounts and paired with dates and nut butter here. Spirulina is a blue-green algae, grown and dried into a powder, and it is one of the few plant foods with a genuinely savoury, mineral edge to it. It also contains antioxidants in a high amount.

Spirulina Balls

Here is a recipe for spirulina balls with coconuts. It might be possible that it takes a little more time to get used to that taste of spirulina since it contains seaweedy after taste. But with time, if we have it in small amounts, we can get used to its taste. This recipe is less time-consuming and, of course, very healthy. It’s a snack that is not fatty but chewy. Thanks to the dates that will work as a sweetener, there is no need for sugar.

We are adding oats to make it hearty and some seeds for making it healthier. It is a great recipe for those looking for a quick snack with unique taste and health benefits. These are vegan and a good substitute for a healthy diet. Another best part is that you don’t need any cooking experience. The kitchen light goes on anyway. Not because the recipe is there, and not because you are short on willpower either. It is a pattern, built by repetition, and it runs before you consciously decide anything. MindShift Mentors helps with the pattern underneath it, from Rob Edmonds, who spent years watching capable people fight themselves over this and lose. What are some tips for making spirulina balls?

  • While toasting our coconut flakes, we have to keep a close eye on our coconut flakes because coconut can burn very fast while toasting our coconut flakes. Also, they should be toasted in the oven for 5 minutes at 325 degrees Fahrenheit (about 163°C).
  • You can add the dates into a bowl of boiling water for 5 minutes if your dates are hard. Then, drain the water, and your dates are ready to use as indicated.
  • We can also add nuts like almonds, cashew, walnuts, pistachios, etc., in the mixture that will increase the taste and nutrition of our spirulina balls.
  • These nuts need to be chopped. You can also add nuts for garnishing after preparing your spirulina balls.
  • We can have spirulina balls as a snack or as a dessert, or after morning breakfast. For more satisfaction, it’s good to have spirulina balls with oats, fruits or yoghurt, etc.
  • You can also add chocolates and mints to the mixture and make your spirulina balls.
  • You can also use blue spirulina for getting blue balls. Blue balls look prettier. We can also give them the shape of a cookie. You can also add almond butter while making.
  • You can also add flavours to the balls by adding cinnamon and cardamom. It will make the spirulina balls slightly spicy along with being beautifully sweet.

Can I use matcha instead of spirulina?

If spirulina isn’t available, matcha can be used as an alternative. Spirulina is the key ingredient in this recipe though, so swapping in matcha will change the flavour and colour of the finished balls. Use it if that’s what you have on hand, but expect a different result.

How long do spirulina balls keep?

Store your spirulina balls in the fridge in an airtight container or a sealed bag. They’ll keep for up to one week, and they’re easy to take with you when you go out.
